An Easy Spring Cleaning Checklist for a Soft Seasonal Reset

An Easy Spring Cleaning Checklist for a Soft Seasonal Reset - Humble Suds

We’ve all seen the studies saying spring cleaning can reduce anxiety.

And while that may be true, the phrase “spring cleaning” can also make people want to hide under a blanket.

So instead of thinking about it as one massive to-do list, we're easing into spring with a slower reset. Here's what we're doing.

Getting into the Right Mindset

This reset isn’t about scrubbing everything in sight. It’s simply about setting the mood for the cleaning fest to come.

For this, take a moment to look around your home. What feels stale? What needs a little life? What has never felt right? Then, take action!

Consider rearranging any spaces or rooms to see if it feels more vibrant.

While we’re not fans of overconsumption, consider adding a bit of dopamine décor—those little pieces around your home that spark joy when you see them.

A cheerful dish towel.
A favorite candle.
A beautiful cleaning bottle on the counter.

Small things can shift the whole energy of a room.

Schedule a Declutter Day

Pick a Saturday or Sunday and dedicate it to a simple declutter sweep. Don't skip it. Don't put it off. Make it feel like an appointment that can't be missed.

Grab a bin or basket and move through each room, placing items inside that you no longer need/want/have outgrown.

Before donating them, consider:

  • asking friends or your local school if they'd like them
  • organize a clothing swap with friends
  • list items locally so they go to someone who will actually use them
  • List some items for sale

It takes a little extra effort, but it can feel good knowing those things are heading to a home where they’ll be appreciated. And, you could make a few extra dollars too!

Freshen Things Up!

Spring is the perfect time to bring some fresh energy indoors.

There are so many ways to do this. A few of our favorites include:

  • a new houseplant
  • fresh flowers in the kitchen
  • a eucalyptus bundle in the shower
  • homemade bath salts for a small self-care moment

And don't forget to open those windows to air out your home!

These little rituals truly breathe life into your space and lend happy uplifting vibe.

One Small Task Today

Remember, you have 92 days of spring. Instead of trying to do everything at once, tackle one to two things each day rather than cramming it all into one weekend.

Today could simply be:

• wiping down the kitchen cabinets
• changing out the air filters
• dusting the ceiling fans
• actually taking your donated items to the center

Little by little, your home starts to feel lighter.

Prepare for the Spring Cleaning to Commence

Part of easing into a spring reset is simply making sure you have the right tools on hand when the cleaning moment strikes.

There’s nothing worse than finally feeling motivated to tackle a task and realizing you’re missing what you need.

We like to think of this as setting yourself up for success ahead of time. When your cleaning essentials are already stocked and ready, those little bursts of motivation are much easier to act on.

A few Humble Suds favorites we always keep within reach:

  • All Purpose Cleaner for everyday wiping, dusting, and quick resets around the house
  • Scour Cleaning Paste for tougher grime like stovetops, sinks, tubs, and greasy range hood filters
  • Laundry Soap for fresh bedding, towels, and the little resets that make a home feel clean again
  • Illuminate Oxygen+Mineral Powder for adding a boost of freshness to the laundry, degunking pots/pans, treating surface and fabric stains, cleaning your blender and more!
  • Miracle Cleaning Bombs for cleaning toilets, garbage disposals, washing machine drums, humifiders, pots/pans and more!
  • Revival Wood + Leather Balm for getting your outdoor furniture ready for summer, conditioning and protecting your cutting boards, dusting, boots/bags and more.

Having your cleaning essentials ready means that when the moment strikes, you can simply start when the inspo hits!
