All Purpose Cleaner FAQs

Is it safe on all surfaces?

Our All Purpose Cleaner is designed for most sealed, hard household surfaces. This includes sealed stone, quartz, solid surface materials, walls, baseboards, fixtures, glass, sealed wood, leather, and more.

Always spot test in an inconspicuous area before full application, especially on delicate finishes or specialty materials.

Best Practices

General Cleaning

For best results, remove loose debris first. Spray the surface, allow it to sit briefly, then wipe clean with a cloth or sponge. For tougher messes, allow the product to sit a bit longer before wiping.

Floors

Our All Purpose Cleaner can be diluted for floor cleaning.

  • Dilution: 1 part cleaner to 4 parts water
  • Half of a 16 oz bottle can be used to make 64 oz of floor cleaner

Toilets, Tubs & Sinks

Spray the surface, let sit briefly, and wipe clean. Repeat as needed for thorough cleaning. For stuck-on grime or buildup, our Scour Cleaning Paste makes a great companion.

Stain Removal

Blot away excess material first. Lightly apply All Purpose Cleaner and allow it to sit briefly, then blot or wipe clean. Repeat as needed.

Always test in an inconspicuous area first to check for colorfastness or bleeding, especially on fabrics, upholstery, or delicate materials.

Stove Tops

Remove debris first. Spray surface, let sit briefly, and wipe clean using a microfiber cloth. For heavier grease, warm water between passes can help. Scour Cleaning Paste may be used for stubborn areas.

Mirrors & Glass

Spray lightly and wipe clean with a lint-free or microfiber cloth. If suds remain, dilute a small amount of All Purpose Cleaner with water for glass use.

High-Touch Areas

Light switches, doorknobs, and other frequently touched areas can be sprayed, allowed to sit briefly, and wiped clean. Repeat as needed.

Electronics

Power off device. Spray cleaner onto a cloth (never directly onto electronics) and gently wipe surfaces, avoiding openings. Allow to dry completely.

Toys

Spray toys with All Purpose Cleaner, allow it to sit briefly, then wipe clean. For toys that may go in mouths, we recommend rinsing with water or wiping with a clean, damp cloth and allowing them to dry fully before use.

Using Concentrates

Our concentrates are designed to reduce packaging and shipping while delivering the same effective everyday clean when diluted properly.

How do I refill my bottle?

To refill Humble Suds bottles: Fill with water to the top of the label. Add 1/2 of the Concentrate for 16 oz bottle refills, or the entire Concentrate for 32 oz bottle refills. Shake well.

To refill other bottles: Add half of concentrate and slightly less than 16 oz water, or add entire concentrate and slightly less than 32 oz water. Shake well.

What water should I use?

For best results, we recommend distilled water. Filtered water can also be used, though water quality may affect performance over time.

How long does a diluted refill last?

Once diluted, we recommend using within six months for best performance. Pre-diluted products have a longer shelf life because they’re made with purified water under controlled production conditions. At-home dilution can introduce variables like water quality, handling, and storage.

How should I store it?

Store diluted products in a cool, dry place and avoid extreme heat or freezing. Concentrated refills should be stored out of reach of children and pets and diluted according to directions before use.

FAQ

Is it a disinfectant?

Like all All Purpose Cleaners, Humble Suds All Purpose Cleaner is a cleaner, not a disinfectant. It works by lifting and removing dirt, grime, and germs from surfaces during everyday cleaning, rather than killing germs like an EPA-registered disinfectant.

Disinfectants are a separate category of EPA-registered products designed for specific situations and should always be used according to label directions. When disinfecting is needed, it’s generally recommended to clean the surface first with an All Purpose Cleaner before applying a disinfectant.

Is it safe for use around children and pets?

Our products are designed for everyday home use and are intended for cleaning household surfaces. We take safety seriously and use essential oils at very low levels — just enough for a light scent and mood boost, without lingering on surfaces. Concentrated refills should be stored away from children and pets and diluted according to directions before use.

How is it preserved?

We design our formulas so multiple elements work together to maintain stability, rather than relying on a single, heavy preservative system. This includes thoughtful pH design, ethanol, and carefully selected cleansing surfactants that help support product freshness and stability over time.
